Author/Engineer/Project Manager Mitch Barbey

Mitch Barbey is a systems engineer and certified Project Management Professional (PMP)® on a mission.

In 1992, at just 29 years of age, Mitch lost his wife Debbie to cancer. With three children under the age of 10 and far from his extended family, he had a dwindling financial cushion to cover the cost of childcare and other family expenses. Mitch felt lost, overwhelmed and unprepared.

Fast-forward about 20 years: Mitch had remarried, and his children had grown. In 2014, Mitch’s mother became ill with a rapidly progressing form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS. Now Mitch needed to help his aging father and dying mother organize their affairs. Due to his parents’ lack of advance preparation, the process was difficult and frustrating, just as it had been after Debbie died.

“Both of these challenging life events prompted me to become an advocate for a kind of ‘systematic’ and structured advance preparation,” Mitch says. A solutions architect with 30 years of experience and a passion for helping others, he created and organized Mitch Barbey’s Steps for Today to offer tips and guidance in dozens of topical areas to help lessen the confusion and stress that can accompany major life decisions.

The Mitch Barbey’s Steps for Today® book series and supplemental products provide detailed best practices for managing home and life – both for now and for the future – freeing up time and energy to get on with living and loving each day, achieving your dreams and creating a lasting legacy. Following Mitch’s system empowers individuals and families with the knowledge, skills and streamlined processes to plan and prepare for tomorrow’s challenges. Every plan starts with a first step. And this one starts with his first book focusing on organizing your home, your information, and your life…. First Steps For Success.
